Fear

We’re never truly fearless… eventually we learn that the scariest things in life are the things we never imagined. Instead of being scared of ghosts, we fear the idea of someone we love becoming a ghost to us. Instead of being scared of the dark, we fear the darkest parts of ourselves. Instead of being scared of monsters, we fear that those we keep close are monsters in disguise. Instead of being scared of snakes, we fear the idea of someone who once thought the world of us no longer feels that way. Instead of being scared of death, we fear leaving those we love too soon. As we grow, we fear more practical things. It’s letting the fear prevent you from doing something you love that’s the biggest challenge.

As I’ve aged, I acknowledge that instead of being scared of clowns or sharks or anything else for that matter does not compare to the fear of watching someone slowly fall out of love with you.

So we are never fearless… we just learn to live with our fears.
